I open up the album by asking what does it mean to be "civilized" in a country where I am treated in very inhumane ways. No matter what stage of life I'm at I receive the judgement of people based solely on my appearance. In essence my life becomes shaped by other's perceptions of me, to the point that the value of my life is in doubt and the safety of my family is in constant question. Being Black in America is a dangerous thing, it shouldn't be this way, this video is one attempt at confronting the issue. We also shot it at the Veterans Memorial at the south harbor, bringing relevance to the album and Black Veterans alike.

On Friday the 13th, 2014 I launched a new writing campaign on my writing blog http://megawrites.wordpress.com and my goal/challenge is to post one verse everyday for a full year. This is in addition to all the other writing I do on a regular basis, not in lieu of it. So, while I am completing my Now and Later Volume 2 Mixtape, completing post production on my forthcoming album and then beginning to write my fifth full length album; the self titled "M.E.G.A.C.I.P.H. Big Circles of Influence." I will also be sharing timely, timeless verses on my blog page.
It is an ambitious goal especially since the verses are not already written, I must continually write new material I am confident enough to share with a discerning public. It is however, something I must do to continue to grow as an artist and hopefully I can inspire others to share their thoughts on my writing which will make me a better writer in the long run. Check out the first couple of entries which are already posted and give me feedback, or suggestions for topics you'd like me to write about in future pieces. One Love Always&4Ever Megaciph Here is my final video in the Team BackPack experience for 2014. You can see the difference in my emotions from right after the live auditions to this video where I'm at the airport headed back home. Overall, the experience was great and I would do it again, in fact it has made me realize the power and necessity of attending conferences. As independent artists I think it is too easy to get overwhelmed between work and creative time and lose sight of the business side of the music business. Without attending conferences and networking with artists outside of our immediate circles it is near impossible to expand our circles of influence. I met a lot of great artists at the 2 day event and got to connect with two good friends I hadn't seen in a while; so I'd have to say it was a success.
Thanks for elevating with me Always & 4 Ever Megaciph This video captures the magnitude of the 2014 TeamBackPack live auditions. There are hundreds of people in the line waiting to get in and find out who will be among the next 8 emcees to join d(-_-)b
I will post my final video of this series tomorrow. Thanks for elevating with me Always & 4 Ever Megaciph This video captures my emotions as they were running very high after our live auditions on May 16th 2014. We had just gotten back to the hotel room after a long day of networking, listening to the panel share knowledge on industry do's and dont's and then sitting and watching all 156 auditions (from our group alone); there were 350 auditions in total. We had been at Mission Underground LA for 9 hours on the day of the live auditions and we met a lot of great artists dedicated to the craft of emceeing and the culture of Hiphop. Then we destroyed the stage on our live auditions, Wally Wells got great video and as soon as he's done editing it I will post it here. Thanks for elevating with me Always & 4 Ever.
One Love Megaciph Here is the second video documenting my experience in travelling to LA and auditioning for Team BackPack. Check it out and get a sense for what I was feeling at the time. Tomorrow night I'll be posting my reactions after the live audition and soon I'll share the video of my live audition as well.
